Traditionally public sector consultation has occupied a position distant from its commercial cousins.

However a new generation of leaders across local authorities, central government, education and special initiatives are increasingly drawing on best practice in the private sectors to expand on and revitalise thinking in their sector.

Nunwood are committed to helping drive this paradigm shift, bringing the skills of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, consultants, economists and developers to bear on a range of social, policy and public consultation issues.

Flexibility is central to everything we do – combining both public sector specialists with consumer gurus.

In this way we’ve been able to apply thinking used in our international youth ethnography to more effectively address issues surrounding young people’s drug rehabilitation in the UK.  We’ve taken thinking and approaches from HR research for blue chip clients and used it to revitalise the position of employee consultation within UK local authorities.

Most important though, is our approach. Treat each problem on its merits and recognise that in an increasingly fast-moving cultural, political and social environment, the old dogmas are unlikely to deliver the best results.

In recognition of our achievements, we have been 2004 finalists for the BMRA’s Public Policy and Social Research Award.

"The last decade has seen a seemingly unstoppable rise in the quantity and breadth of public sector research carried out in the UK. Increasingly, though, there’s scope to draw on best practice and innovation within the private sector to formulate a dynamic and unique approach."
